Paldor Peak
Peak Overview
Paldor Peak (5,896m) is a magnificent and challenging trekking peak located in the Ganesh Himal range, offering climbers a spectacular high-altitude adventure combined with the culturally rich Tamang Heritage Trail. Nestled in the remote Rubi Valley, this peak provides breathtaking panoramic views of some of the world's highest mountains including Ganesh Himal (7,422m), Langtang Lirung (7,234m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), and the majestic Manaslu (8,163m).
With Himalayan Karma Treks, you will experience a meticulously planned expedition that combines cultural immersion, stunning trekking, and thrilling peak climbing—all under the guidance of experienced, certified mountaineering professionals. This 19-day journey follows the beautiful Tamang Heritage Trail, passing through lush rhododendron forests, traditional Tamang villages, and the remote landscapes of the Rubi Valley before ascending to the summit of Paldor Peak.
The Ganesh Himal range is one of Nepal's most remote and pristine trekking regions, offering a unique combination of cultural heritage and alpine adventure. Paldor Peak is considered an excellent choice for climbers with good mountaineering skills who wish to experience a 5800m peak in a less-crowded and authentic Himalayan setting.
Best Seasons to Travel
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) are the best seasons for the Paldor Peak Climbing, offering stable weather, clear mountain views, safe trail conditions, and comfortable climbing temperatures. Spring offers blooming rhododendron forests, while autumn provides crisp, clear views with excellent visibility for summit attempts.
Notes to Travelers
This expedition is physically demanding and recommended for trekkers with strong fitness levels and prior high-altitude experience. The climb reaches altitudes over 5,800 meters and requires proper acclimatization and good mountaineering skills.
The Paldor Peak requires a special climbing permit issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). Himalayan Karma Treks arranges all necessary permits for your expedition.
Accommodation ranges from comfortable hotels in Kathmandu to basic teahouses during the trekking sections and tented camps during the climbing phase. At higher altitudes, facilities are very basic with limited amenities.
The climb involves steep snow and ice sections, glacier travel, and high-altitude conditions. Prior experience with crampons, ice axe, and rope techniques is strongly recommended. The climb is graded PD+ (Moderate to Challenging) and requires good technical skills.
Transportation includes a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi and a return drive from Khahare Bazaar to Kathmandu. Road conditions can be rough and delays are possible.
Permits required include the Paldor Peak Climbing Permit, Langtang National Park entry permit (if applicable), and TIMS card. These are arranged by Himalayan Karma Treks.
Health considerations include altitude sickness prevention, proper acclimatization, and travel insurance covering emergency evacuation up to 6,000m. Consult your physician before embarking on this expedition.
